Start with one drawer, and leave the rest for later

Interior inspiration for start with one drawer, and leave the rest for later

A small organizing project with a clear beginning and end. Start with one useful change, then let your space tell you what it needs next.

01

Choose a manageable drawer

Pick a drawer that creates a daily annoyance. Empty it onto a clear surface and wipe it according to its finish. Keep the project small enough that you can put everything back before you need to stop.

02

Sort by use

Group similar items and separate anything that belongs elsewhere. Check whether duplicates are useful or simply take up space. Handle sharp objects carefully and dispose of damaged items through appropriate local routes.

03

Fit the storage to the contents

Try existing containers before buying organizers. Leave room to lift objects out easily. A divider is useful when it prevents a recurring problem, not simply because an empty compartment looks appealing.

04

Test it for a week

Notice whether the arrangement makes finding and returning things easier. Change the placement if an item is repeatedly awkward to reach. A working drawer is the goal; an arrangement that stays photograph-ready is optional.
